Congress has just enacted the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes far-reaching changes to the way that America pays for prescription drugs. For the first time, Medicare will negotiate prices for some medicines, resulting in billions of dollars of savings for the program, and reduced revenues for drug manufacturers. Medicare will also require rebates from manufacturers if the price of a drug increases faster than inflation.
